Wedding Cookies - A Pittsburgh Tradition

Explaining the wedding cookie tradition to out of town guests always leaves them with a curious look on their face. It is a "Pittsburgh" tradition and one you will enjoy!!! It brings the neighbor's, friend's, Grandma's, Aunt's & yes Uncle's together to bake and enjoy the variety and creativity of each others talent. Your out of town guests will be delighted & amazed at the table, all the cookies to enjoy and if your lucky, you will get to take some home for midnight snack or breakfast in the morning!

I have added a gluten free recipe for all to enjoy, happy baking!

Gluten Free Smores

Preheat oven to 350 and line 8" pan with foil

5 broken gluten free graham crackers (whole)

3/4 c gluten free flour

1/2 c packed brown sugar

1/4 c cold butter (unsalted) cut into pieces

1 large egg

6 Tbs heavy whipping cream

2 - 4oz chocolate bars, broken into pieces

2 c mini marshmallow

In blender, process crackers until finely ground, add flower & sugar then process again. Add butter until blended. Add egg and blend until moist. Press crumb mixture into pan. Bake for 15 minutes and cool completely,

In heavy saucepan cook cream over med heat to 180 degree or until tiny bubbles form around edge, DO NOT BOIL. Remove from heat add chocolate, stirring until smooth. Fold in marshmallows and spread over crust. Chill 3 hours. Remove from refrigerator flip pan and easily remove foil, cut into bars.

Terms & Conditions; Bridal Show Vendors

Terms & Conditions

All participating vendors must thoroughly read and agree to the following Terms & Conditions in order to participate in this show.  Any questions should be addressed before booking the event and signing the Vendor Agreement.  Your signature on this form confirms that you understand and agree to all of the terms stated below.

1. The Bridal Show will last from 12-3P.M. The fashion show will begin at 2:30 P.M.

2. Booths must be completely set by 11:30 A.M.

3. Vendors are not permitted to break their table before 3:00p.m.

4.  Space will be accessible beginning at 9A.M. on Sunday, March 5, 2016.  Absolutely no set up will be permitted the night before. NO EXCEPTIONS!

5. Booths will be reserved when the Vendor Agreement and payment are received.  By signing this document, you agree to pay the stated price in full.  Without a signed Vendor Agreement, a vendor has no legal claim to a table at this show.

6. Location of vendor space may be changed by Hotel Management to create a balance within the booths and/or to reduce congestion.

7. No loud speaking displays are permitted / No soliciting for business is permitted, except within your own booth area.

8. All booths must be supervised by an adult throughout the entire Bridal Show.  Absolutely no one under 18 years of age is permitted to supervise.

9. Any special requests not included in the Terms & Conditions must be discussed with the Days Inn Conference Center at least two weeks in advance.  The Days Inn Conference Center cannot guarantee that these requests will be granted.

10. Hotel Management will cooperate fully; however, will not take responsibility for damage to a Vendor’s property.

11. Booth space must be returned in the same condition as it was given.  If the space is damaged in any way, the Vendor assumes ALL liability to restore its original condition. Nothing is permitted to be hung on walls.

12. No Refunds! Refunds will not be offered for these or any other reasons: poor show attendance, failure of a vendor to attend on the day of event, event date change, etc.

13. All vendors should advertise for this event.  This includes: posting flyers in place of business and / or on website and encouraging clients and customers to attend.  Flyers and free admission tickets for brides-to-be only are available for your business upon request.

14. All vendors must provide a door prize (min. value of $25.00 ~ a discount of services may be included but cannot be the total prize).  Door prizes will be drawn during the fashion show.

15. All vendors MUST remain for the Fashion Show; brides-to-be will be sent to your booth to pick up their prize.

Megan Matthews & Matthew Walter

Excitement filled the air, on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 2:30 p.m., in the Ford City area as Megan Matthews and Matthew Walter, stood in front of their close friends and family to exchange vows to one another and become husband and wife. As the Ceremony ended and the two became one, the guests headed to Butler to the Crystal Room for the reception.

The doors to the Crystal Room opened at 5:00 pm. The Crystal room glowed under soft red lighting. The tables were covered with black linens and crisp ivory overlays, while the chairs had black chair covers with an ivory satin sash, which tied into a bow around the back. In the center of each table, there was a beautiful burgundy rose trio centerpiece, along with diamond studded picture frames, which held the table number. The centerpieces were provided by the Bloomery and the picture frames were made by Megan. 

Guests were mingling and enjoying the open bar and the appetizers, Megan and Matthew chosea cheese ball display, and the Crystal Room staff butler passed Jumbo shrimp cocktails, chicken kabobs, crab stuffed mushroom caps, cocktail meatballs, and bacon wrapped water chestnuts. 

At 5:50, trumpets began to play and a red carpet was rolled out, as the bridal party was announced in. As the Bride and Groom made their way into the Crystal Room, everyone once again had the chance to admire Megan's stunning dress. Megan wore a beautiful and elegant white dress, which had a very intricate and dazzling design on the top half, that also carried over onto the three quater length sleeves. Once everyone had been announced in, a Unity service took place. The Bride and Groom, along with their parents, each lit one of the three candles, which symbolized bringing the families together. 

Following the unity service, it was time for the couple's first dance as husband and wife. 

At 6:15, it was time for dinner to begin. The Crystal Room staff served each guest a mixed green garden salad, followed by a duo plate of filet mignon and chicken marsala. To go along with the entrees, the couple chose green bean almandine and garlic smashed red skin potatoes. 

The Crystal Room staff served each guest a piece of Megan and Matthew's gorgeous wedding cake for dessert. The cake was an elegant 4 tiered vanilla cake, with strawberry mousse filling. The wedding cake was provided by Cakes by Natashia. 

Thanks to all the loving family and friends, there was alsoplenty of home made cookies at the cookie table for everyone to enjoy!

After dessert, DJ Pifemaster got the party started. All of the guests were given boa's to make the dancing more fun! DJ Pifemaster kept the dance floor crowded and feathers flying all night!

Guests were also treated to a photo booth, which was provided by Fairytale Foto.  As you see below, all the parents had a great time at the photo booth!

There was dancing, singing, laughter and love all around. Photographer Jason Waltenbaugh captured every moment.

As the night began to wind down, this day would always be one that Megan and Matthew remembered. Congratulation's and our best wishes to Megan & Matthew Walter!!!

Jessica Urey & Alex Kelecseny

On the evening of Saturday, October 15, 2016, close friends and family of Jessica Urey and Alex Kelecseny, gathered around the couple as they exchanged vows and became husband and wife. 

The ceremony took place in the Terrace Room. At 5:00, the doors to the Terrace Room opened for guest seating..  The Terrace Room glowed with soft yellow uplighting, which gave off a very warm and welcoming feeling. The tables had crisp white linens on them, as well as a chocolate brown overlay. The chairs also had white chair covers and a champagne satin sash, which tied into a bow at the back. On all of the tables there wasa underwater trio of white orchids, provided by The Bloomery. 

 At 5:30, it was time for Jessica and Alex's ceremony to begin. Below is a picture of Jessica's father as he is walking Jessica down the aisle. Jessica wore a flowing white dress with a dazzling beaded print, running throughout the gown. The beautiful dress was from Alfred Angelo. Alex's best man, Taylor, officiated the ceremony for the couple. Jessica and Alex chose to unite their two families as one with a sand ceremony, which symbolized the couple's union.

The reception began at 6:00. This also took place in the Terrace Room. Guests enjoyed a cheesball display for an appetizer, as well as endless amounts of delicious home baked cookies and plenty of cocktails.

At 6:30, the Bridal party was announced into the Terrace room. Jessica and Alex cut their wedding cake which was provided by Cakes by Natashia . It was a beautiful Bethany cake with brown satin & rhinestone ribbon. The cakes flavor was vanilla cake with vanilla butter cream filling. 

Champagne toasts were given to the newlyweds followed by a blessing, then the Terrace Room staff served mixed green garden salads..

Jessica and Alex chose the buffet of stuffed chicken breast and penne pasta  with marinara and meatballs, for the entrees and side dishes of green bean almandine and garlic smashed redskin potatoes. The wedding cake was served for dessert.

With everyone full from dinner and dessert, it was time to get the party started! DJ Rob from Fast Lane DJ, provided the music and entertainment for the fun and memorable night. The dance floor was never empty. Family friends, Ed and Maddie, were the photographers for the couple's special day, and captured every moment. Love, laughter and music filled the Terrace room that night. It was certainly a fun time for all. 

As the night came to a close, Jessica and Alex knew they would always remember their special day!
